Privacy Policy

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how MTB DamperLab ("we", "us") handles information in connection with the MTB DamperLab app ("App") and this website. The App has no account system, no backend server, and no analytics or tracking software built into it. If you choose to connect Apple Health, the App reads a limited set of cycling workout data directly from your device to power the automatic service-interval feature described in Section 3 — that data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. Outside of that on-device read, there is essentially nothing for us to collect through the App — your data stays on your device. This website uses Google Analytics (via Firebase) to understand site traffic, and has one place where you can voluntarily send us information — the contact form — covered in sections 9 and 10 below.

2. Information We Do Not Collect (App)

We do not collect, receive, or have access to your name, email address, location, device identifiers, usage analytics, crash reports, or any preset, setting, or note you create in the App. The App does not require sign-up or login. This includes the Health data described in Section 3 below: even though the App reads it from your device, we never receive, view, transmit, or store a copy of it ourselves.

3. Apple Health (HealthKit) Data (App)

If you choose to connect Apple Health, the App requests read-only access to your cycling workouts (distance, duration, and start/end date and time) through Apple's HealthKit framework. We use this data solely to automatically estimate suspension service intervals based on your riding distance, so you do not have to log mileage by hand.

This access is entirely on-device: the App reads the data directly from HealthKit on your phone, and any values it derives (such as cumulative distance since your last service) are stored only in the App's local storage on your device, the same way your presets are. Nothing read from Health is transmitted off your device, uploaded to a server, shared with us, or shared with any third party, and we have no ability to view it.

We do not use Health data for advertising, marketing, or use-based data mining, and we never write data into Apple Health — the App only reads your existing cycling workouts. You can review or revoke the App's access to Health data at any time in the Health app under Sharing > Apps, or in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security > Health.

4. Information Stored on Your Device (App)

Presets, unit preferences, theme choice, purchase-entitlement flags, and any service-interval values derived from Health data are saved locally on your device using standard on-device storage. This data never leaves your device to reach us. Uninstalling the App or clearing its storage permanently deletes it, and we have no way to recover it.

5. In-App Purchases

Purchases are processed entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see or store your payment information. Apple and Google collect and process data related to your purchase under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. Because the App does not collect personal information from any user regardless of age, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. International Users

Because your App data is stored only on your own device and is never transmitted to us, we do not transfer your personal data across borders. If you have questions about data handled by Apple or Google as part of billing, please refer to their respective privacy policies.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we ever change how the App handles data — for example, if we add analytics, crash reporting, or a backend service in a future version — we will update this Privacy Policy and, where the change is material, ask you to review and re-accept it before continuing to use the App. Changes to this website's practices will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.

9. Analytics on This Website

This website uses Google Analytics for Firebase to help us understand how visitors use the site — for example, which pages are viewed and how visitors found us. This involves cookies or similar identifiers and shares usage data with Google. It does not collect your name, email, or message unless you submit the contact form. You can control this through your browser's cookie settings, tracking-protection features, or a browser extension that blocks Google Analytics.

10. Contact Form on This Website

If you use the contact form on this website, we collect the name, email address, and message you type in, and store them in our database (Firebase Firestore) so we can read and reply to your message. That data is not readable from the website itself — only we can access it. We use it solely to respond to your inquiry and do not sell it or share it with third parties. We keep contact submissions only as long as needed to handle your request.
